In India, Six days are declared as Martyrs' Day or Remembering Day or at National level also referred to as Sarvodaya day. They are named in honour of the people who are recognized as martyrs for the country.

30 January

This was chosen as it marks the assassination of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi in 1948, by Nathuram Godse. This date was selected at National level.

23 March

This is the anniversary of the deaths of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru in 1931, in Lahore (Pakistan), is said to be Martyr's Day.

19 May

On 19 May an incident was happened on which 15 people were killed by state police, happened in 1961 at Silchar railroad station,Assam. 19 May is now designated Bhasha Shahid Divas. This one is "Language Martyrs Day".

21 October

21 October is Police Martyrs' Day or Police Commemoration Day, observed by police departments all over the nation. On this date in 1959,At the Indo-Tibetan border in Ladakh, a central Reserve Police Force patrol was ambushed by Chinese forces, as part of the ongoing Sino-Indian border dispute.

17 November

Odisha observes 17 November as the death anniversary of Lala Lajpat Rai who is also known as the "Lion of Punjab".

19 November

19 November 1828 was the birth date of queen of the Maratha-ruled princely state  'Rani Laxmibai',of Jhansi. This date is observed as Martyrs' Day within the region, and honours those that gave their lives in the rebellion of 1857.
